Valencia CF to play Champions League football for 12th season
Valencia CF are back into the Champions League for a second consecutive season, thanks to their taking fourth place in LaLiga on the last day of the season. The team won 0-2 away to Real Valladolid on Matchday 38, to return to a spot from which they hope to achieve European success in 2018/19.
Next year's campaign will be the club's 12th in the current Champions League format, and the second in in as many seasons under Marcelino. It had appeared to be out of reach at times, but the second half to the campaign was a tremendous response from the squad.
The last time that VCF earned a spot in the Champions League for two seasons in a row was under Unai Emery, who did so on three occasions between 2009/10 and 2011/12.
